ALL
BLACKS' FIRST WIN OF SEASON
All Blacks in action at Stefen
Hill at the weekend.
FRIDAY OCTOBER 13 - Daventry secured a
hard-fought first win of the season in
front of their annual vice-presidents'
crowd at Stefen Hill on Saturday.
The All Blacks dominated the early
stages, led by the inspirational duo of
man of the match Martyn Skinner and Hin
Phat Dip.
Adam Whitehead darted down the blind
side from the 22 to run in unopposed for
a 5-0 lead for the Blacks.
A penalty from Alex Rose extended the
lead before an outstanding individual
try from the Huntingdon outside centre
cut Daventry's lead to one point.
The second-half started poorly for
Daventry with a penalty levelling the
scores.
Despite Steven Rolt winning plenty of
lineout ball, the Daventry backs failed
to make any impact.
The driving maul once again was
Daventry's most potent weapon as Hin
Phat Dip was driven over after heavy
pressure to give them a five-point lead.
The impact of prop Michael White was the
turning point in the game with his
strong carrying allowing Daventry to get
over the game line.
Daventry sealed the win with an Adam
Whitehead try, with a delightful dummy
from the back.
Daventry entertain league leaders
Leighton Buzzard on Saturday in their
toughest game of the season.
