Talented youngsters shine
Daventry All Blacks took on a useful
Huntingdon side with a committed
performance that never quite gave them
the superiority to gain the league
points.
Huntingdon's strong scrummages denied
Daventry the good ball that they needed
to unleash their backs. Colt Luke Jones,
making his first team debut, produced a
very solid performance.
Several good attacking moves nearly
produced scores and a much-disputed try
on the stroke of half time turned the
game in Huntingdon's favour to take them
into
the lead.
Fly-half Alex Rose kicked two penalties
for Daventry in the first-half and then
full back Richard Hewitt ran the length
of the pitch to score the best try of
the game.
Daventry finished on a high with a very
good try by Hin Phat Dip in the closing
minute again converted by Alex Rose.
Bradley Wardell, Daventry's number
eight, made an outstanding debut gaining
the man of the
match award.
Daventry travel to Casuals this week in
the National EDC Senior Vase
competition.
