Thursday February 8 - THE match is being
billed as the biggest game of rugby
Daventry has seen and victory on
Saturday at home to Scarborough, will
mean Daventry will be just two games
away from a showpiece Twickenham final.
Currently in the midst of their best run
of form this season, Daventry All Blacks
are eagerly anticipating an immense
game, against a side that will be
bringing down an army of supporters as
well as a reputation of being one of the
best sides at this level.
Scarborough, like Daventry, currently
lie in mid table of their division –
Yorkshire 1 – and will be looking to
this game to kick start a stuttering
season.
The club has decided to open house the
game for all ex-players and
vice-presidents, as part of the build-up
to the game which kicks off at 2.15.
First team skipper Lee
Collett cannot wait for the big match.
He said: "The boys are really up for the
game and we are just concentrating on
going out and putting in a big
performance on the day."
Coach Mark Kefford knows his side will
be in for a tough afternoon after having
Scarborough watched in their game
against Old Brodleians.
He said: "Having done our homework we
just want to go out and win the game. We
need to front up and hopefully if we do
this we can create a platform for our
backs to deliver."
Key to Daventry's cause will be the back
row, in which intense competition for
places means that one out of Trevor
Hewitt, Alistair Brighton, Hin Phat Dip
and Martin Ker will be left out.
Their battle against Scarborough's star
duo Junior Tupai and Ethynne Terblanche,
who play six and seven respectively,
could be crucial in deciding who will be
that step to closer to a dream
Twickenham final.
